You can pretty much never edit enough. Enough said. I know I've looked over my second book but now I'm doing the same for my first book once again. I'm plenty sure my first book has it's mistakes and so before I put my second book out there I'm trying to correct the little things I can in my first book.
But my editing advice for today-a few tips and tricks I've learned:
*When editing, use a different font.
-Seriously. Seeing words you've written in one font then editing it in another makes a world of difference (something I discovered a little too late. Wish I had known to do that before I put my first book out there).
*When editing, speak out loud.
-You can have a lot of fun with this one. You don't have to talk out loud in the same voice you always use. You can have a little fun and do it in an accent. Now that really makes me pay attention to what I'm editing.
*Tip Three, when editing, print it out.
-When writing, I find I can type really fast and get my thoughts out all in one sweeping rush. When editing however, it's really helpful to go print out the words and with a pen look over and mark what needs fixing. You're much more likely to catch mistakes and also spruce up the existing work. :) All things said and all advice given, that's my preachin' for the day. :) Peace yall. :)
